WAITING FOR WEIGHT LOSS AND CONTRAVE

Are you getting blue in the face waiting for a new prescription weight loss drug? Today may be your day. The expert advisory committee of the FDA (Endocrine and Metabolic) recommended that the FDA approve Contrave.

Since the FDA usually follows the advisory committee recommendations and especially because Contrave is a combination of two FDA-approved medicines (bupropion and naltrexone) it would be difficult to conceive anything other than approval.

Weight loss is particularly topical in the US and millions of Americans are overweight–something that puts them at risk for diabetes and heart disease and all of the complications. Time of course will tell.
